The Invasion
We are the children filled with fear and living frail The fabric that surrounds us is thin---a veil, not armor Behind this veil, we shape-shift hoping to elude the enemy But there is no escape from the world they have made They will always come with their guns and their tanks …trampling over us There is no safe place protected by enough talismans to ward off the world
She stands in front of the mirror …razor blade to skin It is a time of war She knows this as She carves out Her face “I am not weak inside,” She says “You will not violate me as you once did… uprooting me… leaving me exposed . There is metal beneath this pliant flesh See the gears turn against you. I am not weak inside My rage is bigger than yours.” The blood pours down Her cheek--- red war paint.
She gathers up Her children “Let Me face the enemy,” She says She inhales deeply of all that is around Her Taking in trees and sky and the strength of all creatures Calling out to every woman, child , man … to every animal that crawls walks, swims , flies through the skies, the water and the land To every breathing thing ever denied a voice, She calls out Her voice resounding---
OM KRIM KALI KALI OM *
All around her, the purifying flames … OM KRIM KALI KALI OM
She rises--- a crimson phoenix from the burning embers
OM KRIM KALI KALI OM
She reigns here now Her face carved out of pain Life come from Death
We are Kali’s children Safe from the enemy and the sounds of their guns and tanks as they raze our land We no longer scream, wounded, as we flee the conquerors
We breathe free once again. Our home is a sacred place
OM KRIM KALI
*(chant of Kali, Goddess of Death and Rebirth)
